Over 3 years

The role of the ENSAIT engineer is to innovate, design, manufacture and test new products, new materials, new technologies and new processes that meet the requirements of the sector while respecting the company’s values and environmental standards. 

The program

The classical curriculum of the engineer.e ENSAIT includes :

  • teaching in the form of courses, conferences, seminars, tutorials, practical work.
  • personal work within the framework of internships or end-of-study projects,
  • active participation in professional events
  • group projects throughout the course (in 1st, 2nd and 3rd year)
  • a compulsory period abroad in the form of an internship, a semester of study at a foreign university or a dual degree course.

The course ends with an 18-week end-of-study project in a research laboratory or company in France or abroad.

 Second year options

Engineering of Technical Textiles

The objective of the ITT option is to train engineers capable of imagining, designing and producing, at the prototype stage or industrially, innovative products based on fibrous materials for a wide variety of application sectors: hygiene, medical, automobile, aeronautics, construction, civil engineering, industry, composites, personal protection, etc.

Fashion and Service Engineering

The main objective of the IMS option is to train engineers capable of collaborating in the implementation of a highly competitive industrial architecture adapted to the new requirements of the fashion and clothing market.

Gap year

The request for a break is a procedure for temporary suspension of studies that derogates from the students’ usual course of study. It requires the creation of a detailed file and a real reflection on the part of the student on the quality and meaning of his or her project.
The commission meets four times: in April, June, mid-July and early September to study the students’ applications for suspension. The files must be complete and sent to all members of the Commission.

In order to determine the skills mobilized by the student during this period, find the reference frame of competences of the ENSAIT engineer.

The file to be provided in support of your request for cessation must contain: the completed caesura request form , a CV, a covering letter and all the supporting documents that allow us to measure the content and progress of the caesura project.

 First steps in company

Internships

They have a double purpose:

  • to lead you into engineering behavior,
  • bring you the knowledge of the textile industry or distribution, of the business world.

You will learn how to manage a team and a project.

You will do two internships during your studies at ENSAIT, one in the first year lasting 8 weeks and one in the second year lasting 12 weeks.

Projects

The SPRINT Project

Project Sprint is a 100-hour student project carried out in a textile innovation framework, in groups of 4 to 5 people. It allows a synthesis of scientific and technological achievements and places the student engineer in a real complex problem requiring engineering skills. The project subjects are variable but are linked to tomorrow’s trends, a sector of activity (health, e-commerce, etc.), technologies, properties, concepts or research transfer. The subject comes from teachers or companies and must be validated beforehand by a project committee which examines the content of the project and the way it is to be carried out.

The Graduation Project (PFE)

You carry out a project using all the knowledge and skills you have acquired during your three years at Ensait. This project involves scientific, technological or techno-economic aspects. The School manages the confidentiality of the subjects within a contractual framework if the company so requests. The project takes place over 18 full-time weeks, from mid-February to early July (with the possibility of extending to September).

Entrepreneurship

During the three years of the ENSAIT textile engineering program, the student engineer can choose the path of entrepreneurship. Different modules are available to help them create their project:

  • The program in parallel with the Ecole Centrale de Lille called “Filière Centrale Entrepreneurs” (Click here to learn more)
  • An option “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” during the 3rd year
  • Support from ENSAIT’s partner, Euramaterials, a cluster at the service of the materials processing industries.

 International

The ENSAIT is a partner of some fifty universities throughout the world. Engineering students benefit from a minimum of one semester’s experience abroad, within the framework of university exchanges. The student has the possibility to choose between :

  • At least one semester of exchange
  • A double degree
  • Internships and/or the end of study project abroad
  • A year of break abroad

More than 300 companies from all over the world also welcome ENSAIT engineering students for a long-term internship or for their end-of-study project.

Admissions

International students

This competition is a recruitment based on qualifications, intended for foreign students with a scientific or technological degree with 2 to 4 years of higher education. 

3 places available for the new school year

French students from CPGE (MP, PC, PSI, PT, TSI)

For the written tests the ENSAIT uses the banks of marks:

  • E3A-Polytech for the MP, PC and PSI streams,
  • PT for the PT,
  • CCINP for the TSI sector

The registration for the competitions, the written tests and the call for candidates for integration are managed by these note banks and the Service Concours des Écoles d’Ingénieur (SCEI): http://www.scei-concours.fr.

French students from any scientific background (BAC +2 minimum)

This competition is a recruitment on title, intended for students:

  • Holders of a DUT in scientific and technological specialties
  • Holders of a Bachelor’s degree 2 in science and technology from any scientific CPGE including ATS, TB, BCPST, TPC (excluding MP, PC, PSI, PT, TSI)
  • Holders of a BTS in scientific or technological specialties

Admissions for entry into 2nd year

Students from any French or international scientific background (at least 4 years of higher education)

The competition is open to holders of an M1 Master’s degree in science or science and technology. Your degree may be French or international.
Recruitment in the 2nd year is based on your application and interview.

Au cours de mes trois années à l'ENSAIT, j'ai eu l'occasion de faire un échange à l'Amsterdam Fashion Institute et la chance d'effectuer mes stages dans l'industrie du luxe. Aujourd'hui, j'exerce avec passion mon métier de chef de projet sportswear et cuir chez Chanel. Souvent en déplacement chez les fabricants italiens et français, ma maîtrise de la filière est un véritable atout pour la compréhension et la négociation.

Après une première expérience extrêmement enrichissante dans le milieu industriel, je suis aujourd'hui, ingénieur produit au centre de conception chaussure de Decathlon. J'oriente les décisions stratégiques et suis responsable de la mise en production et de la commercialisation des nouveaux produits.<br> Ce que l'ENSAIT m'a apporté ? Des connaissances techniques spécifiques, véritables valeurs ajoutées qui m'ont permis de m'imposer comme référent sur les composants textiles.

En 2017, j'ai intégré l'équipe Recherche & Innovation de Valeo pôle Systèmes Thermiques. L'entreprise développe et produit des filtres à air pour les systèmes de climatisation habitacle. Je collabore étroitement avec l'étranger et notamment avec les sites de Toluca au Mexique et Shashi en Chine. <br>

Je suis entrée à l’ENSAIT pour sa spécialité textile mais aussi pour sa formation multidisciplinaire. Le textile est un matériau qui nous entoure tous les jours. Après mon cursus d'ingénieur, j’ai fait 3 ans de thèse sur les textiles innovants au sein du GEMTEX, laboratoire de recherche de l’école. Aujourd’hui je travaille en tant que Responsable Recherche & Développement textile chez Brochier Technologies en région Lyonnaise. C’est une entreprise qui développe des textiles lumineux à base de fibres optiques pour toutes sortes d’applications : médical, automobile, transports, culture…
